Correction!
I posted the wrong information on a bird from my "Preserving Wildlife" posting in August. What I thought was an American Bittern, I learned today while browsing a reference book of North American birds, that the bird I photographed is really an Upland Sandpiper instead. (One of my photographs was even amazingly similar in pose to the one in the book, confirming it!) Besides the difference in the length of it's neck and general stature, and the way it holds it's head up, and a different beak, the eyes were the dead giveaway. The bittern has yellow eyes and the upland sandpiper has eyes as black as pitch--just as in my photo. I stand corrected.
