Digging Back - Great Blue Heron

Digging back into some old files, I came across photos that were taken "pre-blog" time that I've decided to post in order to share with the many new  folks that have become regular viewers of my blog.

Here are shots I took back in the spring of a Great Blue Heron that was walking along the river.  Typically these birds are very skittish and leary of humans and just the slightest motion or a quiet click of my camera sends them into flight, but this one must have sensed my intent or felt comfortable enough for me to stay with it for a good half hour.  The twists and turns of the river itself provided a wide variety of lighting and backgrounds as I followed the bird around.
