Fauna of the Northeast Kingdom

I was photographing damselflies while spending time in the Northeast Kingdom last week.  I was captivated by the black wings and iridescent body of these insects and was fascinated to learn that whichever angle I shot them from, these Ebony Jewelwings followed my every step with their big eyes!

Some other wildlife from that region included a pair of Loons we shared a lake with.

From the boat, we spotted this deer walking along the edge of the lake, cooling off.

And back on our own home turf last night I watched this deer doing the same!

While up north we also saw this family of ducks that enjoyed the water.

As did this family of Mergansers.
