I always marvel at the colorations, patterns and markings of animals and their ability to blend in with their habitat so inconspicuously, necessary for survival. It blows me away when I see it firsthand, such as with bears and shadows, deer and the forest floor; there are thousands of examples. Here's one more: Notice the striking resemblence between the markings on this pair of Killdeer and the shells along the shornline on which they forage and nest, shown in the succeeding images.
