This little bird was in our backyard singing it's heart out so loudly and so beautifully as first rays of light shone on it yesterday morning,
Also yesterday, this little bird serenaded me as I walked along the bank of a nearby pond. It flitted through the wild thicket simultaneously, singing the whole time. The russet, patterened coloring of it's feathers and the streaks on it's underside made it strikingly beautiful.
These geese were floating on the same pond which I walked around. A pretty scene to be seen!
The back road home showed the first green of spring.
And at the end of that road there's a small swamp. Flying above it was some kind of bird of prey and about a half-dozen turkey vultures circling. Of course I wanted to investigate further, and one vulture in particular was NOT happy that I was there! It flew so eerily low that it's strong, beating wing was loud in my ears and actually blew the hair on my head while my husband watched from a few yards away. Yikes! I stood my ground and snapped a few pictures, but I didn't stay very long in this location! [These photos were not zoomed in!]
Rewinding to the reference above about birds with colorful, patterened feathers, I spent time Saturday morning again with pheasants, and can't help but share this photo showing the incredibly diverse patterns displayed on it's feathers!!! My efforts to catch one of these game birds in flight is challenged, but here are a few attempts.
This cardinal sang to me while following the pheasants around.
Closer to home, I had to stop my car to allow these farm geese to cross the road.
And last but not least, not related to birds, is this small bear. Seemingly too young to be out on it's own, it was standing in a field alongside a road Saturday afternoon. We saw two bears this day--our first sightings of the season.
